Our owner Christina had a friend over from Germany this month & they decided to have 2 nights being pampered.
“A Heavenly Wilderness reserve” is how Bushman’s Kloof is described. Stretching out on the massage table of the outdoor Spa Gazebo overlooking the red Cederberg Mountains - I can understand why and totally agree. Coming here really is heavenly and from the super friendly service to great cuisine – this exclusive 16 room Wellness Retreat is a relaxation delight. A 3 hour drive North from busy Cape Town I was ready to reconnect with nature, see the famous Bushman rock paintings, relax in the Spa, swim in one of 4 (yes four!) pools and simply enjoy this stylish lodge. I knew not to expect much game on the drives (no “Big Five’s”) but enjoyed the flora and fauna instead and mountain walks without the threat of lion around the corner.
A kid-free resort, one can expect a truly spectacular tranquil setting and enjoy the choice of a detoxing Spa treatment versus a scarily tempting array of high-tea delicacies every day. I of course chose both every time.
I am not sure whether Bushman’s Kloof truly is the “World’s Best Hotel” as it was voted in 2009 – this probably is in the eye of the beholder. For the scenery and setting alone I would perhaps agree, but our deluxe room seemed very plain (almost dated) in design. Overall though it was an experience that I’d repeat again when I am looking to recharge my batteries in a spectacular setting that really gets me back to nature.
What I loved most: Coming back truly invigorated and relaxed just from having been pampered in a stunningly scenic place. Oh and the signature massage overlooking the Cederberg Wilderness!

Sounds like just the place for winter weekend away

I loved it! To all our readers out there – go try it out.
