Mandi Johnson-Aliverti, our dynamic head of travel, recently spent the morning in the lush Constantia Valley with 2 very important ladies in her life. She was on a quest to find out what else one can do in this valley – other than sample wines, shop and ride horses!
“I visited the renowned luxury hotel, The Relais Chateaux Cellars-Hohenort Hotel recently, to join one of their morning garden tours. Their enormous gardens are simply spectacular and anyone interested in gardens, flowers or anything girly, would thoroughly enjoy the morning I had.
I took my mother-in-law and 10 year old daughter. We were taken on a 1 hour private tour (but the tours can have up to 10 persons) by one of the head gardeners. It was such fun, learning about all the roses, veggie patches, trees and seasons. The tour is topped off with a delightful cup of tea and fresh English scones….the likes of every true English gardener !
If you have some extra time in Cape Town, have been here before, or are a local, spend a morning here enjoying the ducks, squirrels and beautiful scent of roses.”
