During the Christmas holidays, like most people, we ate and drank too much but in doing so, thankfully, we also discovered this absolute gem of a place for lunch. Casual, totally relaxed and laid back, it’s very much a family run restaurant with country style food of the highest order lovingly prepared. We sat at a table in the garden under the fig tree and tucked into great seasonal soul food.
Around two hours from Cape Town, close to Hermanus, Mariana’s only serves lunch, but if you are in the area for a spot of whale watching, wine tasting or nearby shark cage diving then you simply must book lunch here.
We love Mariana’s so much we don’t mind traveling two hours just for lunch, in fact for her Springbok pie we would probably travel much further. But don’t just take our word for it, the “Eat Out” guide just voted Mariana’s the best “Country kitchen” in South Africa
