The Delaire Wine Estate at the top of the Helshoogte Pass between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek has, in our opinion, the best views in the winelands. So when they opened their recently renovated new restaurant Mandi and Richard from our travel team just had to drop by for lunch.
Says Mandi
“This really is a wow experience! The restaurant and the new wine tasting room is spectacular, designed by world famous interior designers with a collection of enviable artworks from across South Africa. But the highlight is sitting outside on the new deck with sweeping views down the valley and soaring mountains either side, sipping a glass of the estates excellent Sauvignon Blanc. Lunch was really good although expensive, but it is certainly worth paying extra for the view and the opulence. Obviously not a place for a quick lunch, this is a place to sit back and savour the surroundings and the service.”
